Verizon offers unlimited data plan for iPhone -- for now

Verizon Wireless, out to dent competitor AT&T's hold on the iPhone business, on Tuesday upped the ante for its February debut of the Apple smartphone by offering unlimited data — temporarily.
AT&T will no longer have the U.S. exclusive on the iPhone as of next month. And it got rid of unlimited monthly data plans for new iPhone subscribers in 2010  bcoz of excessive demands on its network.
"This just provides Verizon with yet another piece of their messaging that says, 'We have the better network, and we can handle as much traffic as you bring to us,' " says Forrester Research analyst Charles Golvin. An Apple employee displays an iPhone showing the Verizon wireless network in New York City.
