McAfee, one of the prominent computer security companies, has released a set of predictions for year 2011 under the context of online security and threats. The company highlighted different risks and threats on the basis of URL Shorteners, Location Based Services, Internet TV and… Apple products!
“We’ve seen significant advancements in device and social network adoption, placing a bulls-eye on the platforms and services users are embracing the most,” Vincent Weafer, senior vice president of McAfee Labs, said in a statement. “These platforms and services have become very popular in a short amount of time, and we’re already seeing a significant increase in vulnerabilities, attacks and data loss.”
The mobile platform has always been an open cesspool of viruses. If it weren’t for security updates and patch releases, the whole mobile computing community would’ve been swirled down in a mass of nastiest malwares, Trojans, bogus applications and etc. speaking of viruses, according to McAfee’s experts, the Apple Mac OS platform has been relatively secure. Plus, Mac is better than the PC platform, in terms of security because Windows is quite a vulnerable operating system.
